How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

We recommend booking at least 2–4 weeks in advance during peak season (June–September). For the Solar Eclipse event on August 12, 2026, we strongly recommend booking as early as possible as availability is extremely limited. Off-season bookings can often be arranged with shorter notice, subject to availability.

What deposit is required?

Accepted Answer

For day charters booked online, full payment is collected at the time of booking via Stripe. For weekly charters and custom arrangements, a 50% deposit is due upon signing the charter agreement, with the remaining balance due 4–6 weeks before the charter date. All payments are held securely in escrow.

Can I modify my booking after confirmation?

Yes, modifications are possible subject to availability. Date changes requested more than 14 days before the charter can usually be accommodated at no extra charge. Is there a maximum number of guests?

Each yacht has a specific maximum guest capacity set by maritime safety regulations. This is clearly displayed on each yacht's detail page. For day charters in Spanish waters, the legal maximum is typically 12 guests. Children of all ages count toward the guest limit. We cannot exceed the stated capacity under any circumstances.

Can I bring children on board?

Absolutely! Children of all ages are welcome on our yachts. We provide appropriately sized life jackets for all children. Parents and guardians are responsible for the supervision of minors at all times, particularly around water sports activities. For day charters booked online, our standard terms and conditions apply automatically upon payment. For weekly charters and custom arrangements, a formal charter agreement based on the MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association) standard will be prepared and signed by both parties before the charter commences.

What payment methods do you accept?

For online bookings, we accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) processed securely through Stripe. For larger charters and weekly bookings, we also accept bank transfers to our escrow account. All transactions are processed in EUR (€).

Are there any additional costs I should know about?

Accepted Answer

For day charters: The base price includes your professional skipper, soft drinks, and insurance. Fuel is quoted separately based on the route. Catering and water sports are available as optional add-ons or bundled into an all-inclusive package. For weekly charters: In addition to the charter fee, an APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) of typically 25–35% of the charter fee is collected before embarkation. The APA covers fuel, food, beverages, marina fees, port taxes, and other running expenses. Any unused APA is refunded at the end of the charter with a detailed accounting.

What is the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance)?

The APA is a fund used to cover the running costs of a weekly charter, including fuel, food and beverages, marina/port fees, local taxes, and any special requests. It is typically 25–35% of the charter fee and is paid before embarkation. The captain manages the APA during the charter and provides a full accounting at the end. Any surplus is refunded to you; any shortfall is settled before disembarkation.

When is the full payment due?

Accepted Answer

For day charters: Full payment is collected at the time of online booking. For weekly charters: 50% deposit upon signing the charter agreement, with the balance due 30 days before the charter start date. Late payments may result in cancellation of the booking as per the Bluebnc Yachting Charter Terms & Conditions.

Is a security deposit required?

For day charters: No security deposit is required. For weekly charters: A security deposit may be required depending on the yacht. The amount is specified in the charter agreement and is held in escrow. It is returned in full after the charter provided no damage has occurred beyond normal wear and tear.

Are tips expected for the crew?

Gratuities are not included in the charter price and are entirely at your discretion. If you feel the crew has provided exceptional service, a tip of 10–20% of the charter fee is customary in the yachting industry, though any amount is appreciated. Tips can be given directly to the captain for distribution among the crew.

What should I bring on board?

We recommend bringing: sunscreen (reef-safe preferred), sunglasses, a hat, swimwear, a light cover-up or change of clothes, any personal medications, and a camera. We provide towels, snorkeling gear, and water sports equipment. Please wear soft-soled shoes or go barefoot on board to protect the deck. We ask that you do not bring hard-soled shoes, high heels, or dark-soled shoes.

Is there a dress code?

There is no formal dress code — smart casual and resort wear are perfectly appropriate. The most important rule is soft-soled, non-marking footwear only (or barefoot). We recommend light, comfortable clothing suitable for a day on the water. For evening charters or special events, smart casual attire is suggested.

Can you accommodate dietary requirements?

Absolutely. Our catering team can accommodate virtually any dietary requirement including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher, and specific allergies. What water sports are available?

Depending on the yacht, available water sports may include: stand-up paddleboards, snorkeling equipment, sea bobs, jet skis, water skis, wakeboards, inflatable toys (donuts, bananas), kayaks, and fishing equipment. The specific equipment available is listed on each yacht's detail page. The captain may restrict certain activities based on sea conditions for safety reasons.

Is smoking allowed on board?

Smoking is only permitted in designated exterior areas as directed by the captain. Smoking is never allowed inside the yacht's interior. We ask that smokers use the ashtrays provided and are mindful of other guests. E-cigarettes and vaping follow the same policy.

Can I play my own music?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Most of our yachts are equipped with Bluetooth-enabled sound systems. You're welcome to connect your phone or device and play your own playlists. The captain may ask you to keep volume at a reasonable level when in port or near other vessels.

What is the typical itinerary for a day charter?

Accepted Answer

A typical 8-hour day charter in Mallorca includes: departure from your marina (usually 10:00), cruise along the coast with scenic stops, anchoring in a beautiful cove for swimming and water sports, a gourmet lunch served on board, further cruising and a second swimming stop, and return to the marina (usually 18:00). The captain will suggest the best route based on weather and sea conditions, but you're free to discuss preferences.

What is the cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy follows the Bluebnc Yachting Charter Terms & Conditions (Clause 11): If you cancel before the final payment is due (typically 30 days before the charter), the 50% deposit is retained by the Owner. If you cancel after the final payment date has fallen due, 100% of the charter fee is retained. If any APA or delivery fees have been committed, those will also be deducted from any refund. What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety is our top priority. If weather conditions make the charter unsafe, the captain will make the final decision. In cases of genuine force majeure (severe storms, official maritime warnings), we will offer a full reschedule to an alternative date at no extra cost, or a full refund if rescheduling is not possible. Light rain or moderate wind does not typically constitute grounds for cancellation — our captains are experienced in finding sheltered waters.

Can I reschedule instead of cancelling?

Yes, rescheduling is possible subject to yacht availability. Contact charter@bluebnc.com as early as possible to discuss alternatives. Any changes are governed by the Bluebnc Yachting Charter Terms & Conditions. If APA or provisioning costs have already been committed, those may be deducted.

How long does a refund take to process?

Accepted Answer

Eligible refunds are processed within 14 business days via the original payment method. For bank transfers, please allow additional time for international processing. Payment processing fees are non-refundable. You will receive email confirmation once the refund has been initiated.

What if the yacht has a mechanical issue?

Accepted Answer

If the yacht is disabled by mechanical breakdown, grounding, or other cause not attributable to you: For issues lasting 12–48 hours, you'll receive a prorated refund or charter extension. For issues lasting more than 48 hours, you may terminate the agreement and receive a prorated refund for the unused portion, plus reasonable transportation costs back to the original port. We will always attempt to provide a replacement vessel of equal or greater value.

Do you recommend travel insurance?

We strongly recommend that all guests carry independent travel insurance covering trip cancellation/interruption, medical emergencies, and personal belongings. Our yacht insurance covers the vessel and third-party liability, but does not cover your personal effects, medical expenses, or trip cancellation costs. Several reputable providers offer specific yacht charter cancellation insurance.

What if the owner cancels the charter?

In the rare event that the owner cancels: If due to force majeure, all payments are refunded in full. If for any other reason, you will receive a full refund of all monies paid plus liquidated damages equal to 25% of the charter fee (if notice is given 30+ days before the charter start date). How do you ensure passenger safety?

Safety is paramount. All our yachts carry full safety equipment including life jackets for all guests (including children's sizes), fire extinguishers, first aid kits, emergency flares, EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon), and VHF radio. All vessels are regularly inspected and hold valid safety certificates. Our captains conduct a safety briefing before departure.

What insurance coverage is provided?

All yachts in our fleet carry comprehensive marine insurance including hull and machinery coverage, third-party liability, water sports liability (covering tenders, jet skis, paddleboards, etc.), crew medical coverage, and pollution liability. The insurance meets or exceeds MYBA standards. However, guests' personal belongings and medical expenses are not covered — we recommend personal travel insurance.

What happens in case of a medical emergency?

All crew members are trained in first aid. Every yacht carries a comprehensive first aid kit. In case of a serious medical emergency, the captain will immediately contact the coast guard and arrange the fastest possible evacuation to shore. Mallorca has excellent medical facilities in Palma and other major towns. We recommend all guests with pre-existing conditions inform the captain before departure.

Are there any substances prohibited on board?

We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy for illegal drugs and weapons. The possession or use of any unlawful substance or firearm by any guest will result in immediate termination of the charter without refund, at the captain's discretion. This policy is non-negotiable and applies to all guests without exception.

What weather conditions would prevent a charter?

The captain makes all weather-related decisions based on official maritime forecasts and professional judgment. Generally, charters proceed in winds up to Force 5 (19–24 knots), though the route may be adjusted to find sheltered waters. Charters may be postponed in Force 6+ conditions, thunderstorms, or when official maritime warnings are issued. Mallorca's coastline offers many sheltered bays, so even on windy days, enjoyable charters are usually possible.

Can non-swimmers join the charter?

Absolutely. Non-swimmers are welcome and will be provided with life jackets. You can enjoy the yacht, the views, the catering, and the experience without entering the water. If you do wish to swim, the crew will ensure you have a life jacket and will supervise closely. Many of our guests enjoy the charter purely for the cruising and dining experience.

Where do I board the yacht?

Accepted Answer

Most yachts in our fleet depart from Marina Cuarentena in Palma — our primary base. Two exceptions: the Fjord 52 departs from Port d'Andratx, and the Bluegame 74 departs from Puerto Portals. Your exact berth number and marina directions are included in your booking confirmation email, sent 48 hours before departure. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

Is parking available at the marina?

Marina Cuarentena in Palma has limited parking — we recommend using the nearby Parc de la Mar underground car park (5-minute walk) or arriving by taxi. Puerto Portals has a dedicated parking area with ample spaces. Port d'Andratx has street parking and a small public car park near the harbour. Extremely limited. We have a finite fleet and the eclipse is a one-time event. Once all yachts are booked for August 12, 2026, no additional capacity can be added. We are already receiving bookings. What if the eclipse is obscured by clouds?

August in Mallorca has historically low cloud cover (averaging less than 15% cloud probability). Our captains will monitor weather forecasts closely and can reposition the yacht to find clear skies if needed — this is a major advantage of viewing from the sea versus a fixed land location. In the unlikely event of complete cloud cover, the charter experience (cruising, dining, water sports) remains fully enjoyable.

What happens if I damage the yacht?

The yacht's insurance covers accidental damage in most cases, subject to a deductible. For day charters, no security deposit is typically required. Intentional damage or damage caused by negligence (e.g., violating the captain's instructions) is the charterer's full responsibility.
